FEBS Education Workshop Young Scientist/Young Lecturer Bursaries


FEBS-IUBMB-Norwegian Biochemical Society Education Workshop:

“Education in Molecular Life Sciences”
Oslo, Norway: 18-19 September 2015

Three awards are available to young scientists to enable participation in this workshop in Oslo. These grants cover registration fee, meals and accomodation up to a maximum of Euro 500.

The candidates will be selected on merit according to the eligibility criteria set by FEBS (see below).The applicants are asked to send their applications together with documented proof of their eligibility and a letter of recommendation from the current or previous supervisor (if applicable) to the Chair of the Education Committee by 3 July 2015 ([email protected]).

The selected candidates will receive a FEBS Treasury award form, to be returned to the FEBS Treasury for approval at least 8 weeks before the start of the event.

Eligibility criteria:

The applicant should be registered as a PhD student, post-doctoral scientist, assistant professor or similar at an institute of higher learning in a country which has a FEBS Constituent Society.

  • The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society (see: http://www.febs.org/our-members).
  • The applicant cannot be a resident of the country hosting the event.
  • The applicant must have at least two years and at most ten years of education experience.
  • Preference will be given to eligible applicants who have not received support from FEBS to attend a FEBS Advanced Course or to participate in the FEBS-EMBO 2014 Conference (via a bursary) or YSF (Young Scientists’ Forum) in 2014.

Information to be included in the application:

  • Current or previous supervisor’s (head of departments’s) letter (if applicable) or equivalent, giving information on the educational experience of the candidate.
  • Maximum one A4 page giving reason for application for bursary including details about education experience.
  • A poster abstract on education (to be communicated at the workshop).
  • Proof of membership of a FEBS Constituent Society.
  • Proof of country of residence.
  • Details of previous grants received from FEBS.
